Annapolis Boat Show 2022 | Meeting Sailing La Vagabonde, fans, & inspiring YouTubers!

With a jam-packed schedule at the 2022 Annapolis Boat Show, by the morning of Day 3 we were slow to get going. But that didn’t stop us from making the rounds with some more incredible YouTubers and their devoted fans.

We met Colin from Sailing Parlay Revival, whose channel introduced Lagoon 450 hunters to this boat’s many bulkhead issues. We’re grateful to him for breaking that story wide open, because we almost bought a 450!

We also got to meet the most famous sailing YouTubers out there: Riley and Elayna from Sailing La Vagabonde. They’ve been a huge part of our inspiration to take the leap into our own sailing journey, and although they’re setting aside boat life, it was great to the boat will be staying in the family: Riley’s cousin will be captaining the boat and offering charters.

We asked Riley for some advice for us newbies. “Don’t start a YouTube channel with the goal of becoming successful,” he said. “Just do the thing that you love. If it’s like work for you, it won’t get done.”

Then we met up with some awesome vendors! If you’re in the sailing community, check out these products:

  • Cool Air Chair – inflatable lounge chairs for beach/pool/outdoors. No pump needed!
  • Paddle Pump – acts as a spare paddle, bilge pump, and air pump
  • Precision Sails – sailmakers producing customized sails for all types of sailors

As it was our last day before we went home, we set aside the boat scene for a few hours and explored the town. If you’re ever in Annapolis, be sure to visit Quirk-n-Bach Pottery, a little stoneware pottery shop. Its owner, Cameron, has been in the pottery business for 25 years. We also got to meet the charming employees at Bitty and Beau’s, a coffee shop which hires people with disabilities. The shop is named after the owners’ two children who have Down Syndrome and is, as their website puts it, “A human rights movement disguised as a coffee shop.”

That night we shared dinner with friends, and they gave us a few personalized mementoes—watch the video to hear the whole story.

Overall, our first boat show was an amazing time. We can’t wait for next year!
