As we approach, we’re greeted by an abandoned town, its homes standing as skeletons of the past. The silence surrounds us, and we wonder what remains. By the looks of it, this truly is a lost island – what will we find?
Exploring further, we discover signs of life—a well-maintained generator and a water treatment plant. The remnants of a church and a graveyard remind us of the island’s history. We stumble upon a forgotten school, where scattered books offer glimpses into the lives of past students.
Meeting Delvano, one of the few people who live here, we learn about the island’s devastation. The island’s resilience and the challenges faced by the Bahamian people resonate deeply with us.
Leaving this place behind, we carry the stories and images with us. We hope to return one day to see the rebuilt town and meet the people who call this place home.
